WEDDINGS - PINETUM LAKE Shaw Nature Reserve’s foremost purpose is to promote greater appreciation and understanding of the natural world. Weddings are permitted as a service to those who desire a natural setting for their ceremony. We expect all weddings to be conducted in a manner compatible with the beauty and quiet present at the Nature Reserve. With this in mind, weddings are limited to 100 people or less, and loud music of any kind is not permitted. Stages, trellises and large instruments like pianos and organs are not permitted. Shaw Nature Reserve provides white folding chairs set up according to your instructions in any of the three areas around Pinetum Lake. If you are not familiar with the areas around the lake, we ask that you visit the Reserve to choose the exact location for the ceremony and to better understand how your wedding will adapt to the natural area of the Pinetum.
A 50% down payment is required to hold your reservation, with the remainder due one month (30 days) prior to the wedding. Anyone reserving a date and making a down payment must also be a regular member of the Missouri Botanical Garden (minimum of a $60.00 membership). If a cancellation is made at least 60 days prior to the wedding day, you will receive a refund of all but $50.00. Cancellations made less than 60 days prior to the wedding will result in a refund of one half of the total price quoted. Pinetum Lake weddings are scheduled MAY through OCTOBER only. It is important to remember that no covered areas are available. In case of bad weather, you should plan to have a back-up location. The Director of Shaw Nature Reserve must give final approval for all reservations.
