Hike with a naturalist through the prairie to learn about prairie life, check out the teepee, play pioneer games, listen to a live band, and watch weavers, spinners and other craft demonstrations.
Some of the exhibits include mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and insects. Living history characters will re-enact the lives of early prairie inhabitants. An archaeologist and a flint-knapper will display and interpret artifacts of prairie life. Native plant nurseries will sell wildflowers and seeds.

Prairie Day at Nature Reserve puts the pet in herpetology, 9/16/2004, St Louis Post Dispatch
"Prairie day was awesome! We had a wonderful time. We loved the Black smith demo, the prairie toys that we actually got to play with, the buffalo hunting booth, the buffalo burgers, the axe throwing, the sod house, wool threading and coloring, soap carving, and the local bird, mammal, reptile and plant exhibits! Those were just some of our favorites! There was so much to do!
With festivals I am always a little weary of how much money I'll nickle and dime away. That was not the case. The kids didn't find one thing that they had to spend money on to have fun, as a matter of fact, they earned wooden nickles by answering questions at the booths and at the end were able to trade them in at the trading post for trinkets. Even the food and drinks were inexpensive!
You guys did a great job putting all of this together. We really enjoyed ourselves! Thank You."
